The Belarusian Extraliga (Russian Белорусская экстралига) is the highest ice hockey league in Belarus, whose current champion is HK Njoman Hrodna. The record champion is HK Junost Minsk with seven championships followed by HK Njoman Hrodna with six championships. After the 2008/09 season, HK Keramin Minsk led the eternal Extra League table ahead of city rival HK Junost Minsk.
The league was opened to foreign teams in 2004, but closed again in 2007. When the Continental Hockey League was founded, the Belarus Ice Hockey Association opened the Extra League, the second division of the Wysschaja Liga and the junior leagues to foreign teams from the 2008/09 season onwards. The foreign participants mostly came from Latvia or Ukraine, e.g. HK Sokol Kiev. From the 2013/14 season, only Belarusian teams will participate.
Since the 2016/17 season, the Belarusian U20 national team has also taken part in the competition. They play in the Tschyschouka Arena in Minsk.
