The V-League 1, officially Toyota V.League 1 for sponsorship reasons, is the highest category of football in Vietnam. It is currently played by 14 clubs that play two wheels to each other to and from matches. The club that is crowned champion at the end of the season enters the AFC Cup, second in importance behind the Asian Champions League.

The V-League recently reached the fifth highest attendance average among the best Asian leagues in 2009 (10,526 spectators per game).

The V-League is considered the best football league in Southeast Asia and included among the 50 leagues worldwide in terms of quality, attendance and professionalism.
