The 2nd league is the second highest Slovak league in men’s football.
History
Since the 2014/15 season, the league has had the sponsor name DOXXbet lega after the Slovakian sports betting provider DOXXbet. It was established in its present form in 1993, after the division of ČSSR. It consisted of 16 teams from 1993 to 2007, except from 1997 to 2002, when 18 teams participated. From the season 2007/08 to 2013/14 the system was equal to the Fortuna League (12 teams).
The only difference was that two teams relegated. For the season 2014/15 the mode of the league was changed. Instead of the twelve clubs in one league, the game was divided into two groups (West and East) with twelve teams each. As of the 2017/18 season, a unified league with 16 teams will again be played.
From 1997 to 2011 it was called the 1st league, since summer 2011 it is called the 2nd league again.
