The Second League (Ledman Liga PRO for sponsorship reasons) is the second tier of the football league system in Portugal, having succeeded the II Division since 1990, being at the time called Second Division Series A, Second Division or Honour Division. When the LPFP took control of the two upper divisions in 1999, it was renamed “Second League” before changing its name to “Honour League” in the 2005-06 season. The name was reverted to “Second League” at the start of the 2012-13 season. In 2016, for sponsorship reasons, the league was renamed to Ledman Liga PRO.
The National of Madeira is the current holder of the title. There are 18 teams participating in the Second League, with the two best classified teams ascending to the First League.
